Maldives-Saudi Arabia discuss strengthening tourism

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and Saudi Arabia’s Tourism Minister Ahmed Al-Khateeb has discussed strengthening tourism between the Maldives and Saudi Arabia.

The discussions were held on the sidelines of the world’s largest travel trade fair presently ongoing in Berlin, Germany; Internationale Tourismus Börse (ITB).

President Solih had toured the fair during which he visited Saudi Arabia’s pavilion.

During the meeting, President Solih and Minister Al-Khateeb explored avenues for mutual collaboration to strengthen tourism between the two countries. Commenting on the meeting, Minister Al-Khateeb said discussions were held regarding ways to enhance cooperation between Maldives and Saudi Arabia including development projects and sustainable tourism.

ITB Berlin is a B2B platform for tourism industry partners and businesses. The Maldives is attending the fair this year with 233 representatives from 91 companies, accompanied by officials of the Ministry of Tourism and MMPRC.

President Solih arrived in Germany on Tuesday after attending the 5th United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries (LDC5) in Doha, Qatar.
