Sword used to threaten and rob South Central Utilities employee

Revenues of South Central Utilities Limited of over MVR200,000 has been robbed from an employee of the company, who was threatened with a sword and a machete while he was on his way to the bank to deposit this money.

Managing Director of Fenaka Corporation Mohamed Nimal said that the man was robbed while on his way to the Bank of Maldives building located in Maahin ward in L. Gan, at around 2:00pm today by a masked group who threatened him using a sword and a machete.

A cheque worth MVR13,000 and MVR293,000 cash were snatched from the employee.

“An employee of South Central Utilities Limited has been robbed of company revenues made up of a cheque worth MVR13,000 and MVR293,000 cash, by a group of masked men who threatened him using a sword and machetes,” Nimal said.

Police Media Official Hassan Haneef said that a case was reported to the Police that two men had used a sword to threaten and rob another man. He said that the relevant people are being questioned and that the investigation is under way.
