Maldives Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) has extended the bidding period for the management or purchase of Herethera Resort for the third time.
The company said that the last period for bidding closed last Sunday and that the new bidding period will continue until the 21st of January.
MTDC is looking for a party to purchase the resort, or to manage the resort on joint venture or partnership terms with the company.
The company had not stated why they cancelled the bidding for the last round but had said on previous instances that they had to cancel the bids due to a lack of interest. The resort comprises of 540 beds.
Two different parties have tried to manage the resort previously. The last company to manage the resort was ONYX, a company from Thailand. They had abandoned the resort on February this year.
