Police have arrested one suspect in connection to the vandalism of Juice Time, a café in suburban Hulhumale’.
The suspect, identified as a 19-year-old Maldivian male, was arrested under court order Sunday.
According to police, he is one of the people believed to have been actively involved in the crime.
The attack on Juice Time had taken place on February 17.
CCTV footage shows two men wearing helmets and facemasks arrive on a motorbike and shatter the glass windows of the café with hammers, and then enter the café and destroy additional items at the café.
The cashier had immediately escaped.
And the two men had fled the scene after causing the damage.
The police had found the motorbike used in the crime on February 24.
However, this marks the first arrest in the case.
Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameed confirmed in a prior interview to the press that the incident had been sparked by a dispute between two rival gangs.
