K. Guraidhoo MP Riza passes away

K. Guraidhoo MP Ibrahim Riza passed away last night.

He, reportedly, passed away while undergoing treatment for cancer in Malaysia. Reportedly, treatments have been going on for the past years or so.

Riza has been serving as an MP in the People’s Majilis for 13 consecutive years. He was even elected vice president of JSC when Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom was president of the Maldives.

At the time of passing, Riza, was on the Independent Committee, Committee for Security services, and Judicial Committee of the ongoing term of People’s Majilis.

Prior to kickstarting his political career, he has worked as a lawyer. 

He was first elected to the parliament in 2009 as an independent candidate. When PPM was formed he joined them.
