A police spokesperson said Saturday that the court ordered for the suspect to be remanded in jail pending the outcome of his trial.

Addu, the second most populous city of Maldives, has been the site of serial gang attacks in the past.

Back in 2021, the Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameed said the police had identified at least 12 active criminal gangs in Addu.

The stabbing in Addu comes amid similar attacks in Male’ City.
