New local TV channel, SSTV, launched

Sun Siyam Media (SS Media) has launched a new local television channel, SSTV, on Wednesday evening.

The channel was launched during a special ceremony at Manhattan Business Hotel by the founder of SS Media, Ahmed Siyam Ahmed.

SSTV can be viewed on SS Net’s channel one and through social media.

SS Media’s Chief Content Officer Mohamed Zaheen said content for all ages will be delivered through SSTV. He also noted that the production of half of the channel’s content is outsourced to third parties.

“Our purpose is to facilitate opportunities for other content creators. To facilitate opportunities for television producers. A priority will be allocated to creators based on islands,” he said.

SSTV will be live from 9:00am in the morning 12:30am at night. News in Dhivehi language will air at 10:00am, 2:00pm, 8:00pm and 12:00am – while English language news will air at 4:00pm. Not limited to news, the channel will also broadcast a number of engaging and enthralling programs.

SS Media presently manages the prominent online news website, Sun Online, and Safuha and Maldive Islands. The media also manages the newly introduced cable TV service, SSNET.

The media group was incepted amidst the technological revolution to the Maldivian media scene. Registered as ‘Iru Observer’ on April 30, 2007, under the guidance of Siyam, the media group will mark its 16th anniversary this year. During this long journey – SS Media has achieved significant successes, including positioning itself among the most popular media outlets in the Maldives.

SS Media has always brought the latest daily news from the Maldives and across the globe via its website, radio, and television – while leading on the frontlines in major coverages – in the past 16 years. The media reiterates its commitment to remain steadfast and unbiased in bringing viewers the latest news updates accurately.

It is also the media’s aim to introduce new and unique products to the Maldivian media scene.
