Former Vilimale’ MP Ahmed Nihan Hussain Manik, on Tuesday, said that the Civil Court’s judgment falsely stated that the outstanding payment of credit facility withdrawn by him and his brother Inan Hussain Manik from Maldives Islamic Bank (MIB) had been paid back in full.
Civil Court, in a judgment, dismissed the case against Nihan and his brother, filed by MIB, seeking MVR 4.02 million as the outstanding payment of a credit facility withdrawn by both individuals, citing that the outstanding payment had been paid back in full.
Nihan, during a press conference of Jumhoory Party held on Tuesday afternoon, said such a large payment has not been made – adding the judge presiding over the case had signed the judgment without conducting the proper inquiries.
“The judgment uploaded to the Civil Court’s website consisted of wrongful information. Because of the judgment signed by the court’s judge and publicized without the proper inquiries, you all also ended up writing what you wrote,” he said, addressing journalists who reported on the case.
The judgment of the case presently available on Civil Court’s website reads that the court sees no reason to proceed with the case any further following MIB’s request to transfer the case to Civil Court’s Hulhumale’ Division. Nihan said that the judgment had been later amended to the present version which does not mention repayment of the credit facility.
He also expressed no intention of filing a complaint with the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) against Civil Court Judge Adam Ibrahim who had signed the judgment.
