Planning Minister: Ameenee Magu to be completed by September 27th

Planning Minister Mohamed Aslam, on Wednesday, revealed the new deadline to finish Ameenee Magu redevelopment project; September 27, 2022.

The initial deadline for the project contracted to Road Development Corporation (RDC) was by the end of this month.

In response to a question posed by West Henveiru MP Hassan Latheef at Wednesday’s parliamentary sitting – Minister Aslam said that the project was delayed because of difficulties in obtaining materials required to carry out the work.

He added that September 27th was decided as the new deadline after considering these difficulties.

Minister Aslam also highlighted an upcoming road development project by the Planning Ministry in Male’ City; marine drive. He said the project would be initiated once Ameenee Magu redevelopment reaches a certain stage.

“We are working on moving forward with the marine drive in Male’ north side after Ameenee Magu. The road planned to be completed within this term is that,” he said.

Minister Aslam detailed that the government’s plan was to widen the road as part of the redevelopment.

The redevelopment of Ameenee Magu was contracted to RDC by Planning Ministry on July 3.

Under the project, valued at MVR 84.4 million, RDC will develop 7.1 kilometers of asphalt road, install a storm drain system, and install street lights.

Physical works on the redevelopment of Ameenee Magu was officially inaugurated on August 30.
