Wadde: Many unbelievable things have happened during the election

Ungoofaaru MP Mohamed Waheed (Wadde), who is a supporter of Maldivian Democratic Party’s (MDP) leader Mohamed Nasheed, has remarked that many unbelievable things have taken place in the course of MDP’s presidential primary presently underway.

While multiple disturbances have been reported in the election from both Male’ area and islands – the allegation which blew up the most was regarding the dump of counterfeit ballot papers inside some ballot boxes.

Speaking to Sun, Wadde said that an official statement on whether to accept or reject the result of this election would be given by Nasheed. Nevertheless, he added that the election was unacceptable.

“Am saying it is unacceptable. Many unacceptable events are taking place. We are closely observing,” he said.

Wadde also alleged that the disturbances in the election have been deliberately caused by supporters of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, the opposition candidate of Nasheed.

On this note, he said that observers representing Nasheed have been obstructed from executing their duties, while attempts have been made to remove them from the voting centers.

“These things have to be done in order to carry out in order to do something illicit. Have been hearing that our observer at Hinnavaru ballot box has left the premise over the question of their safety,” he said.

Many disturbances have been reported across different voting centers including breaking open the ballot boxes.
