Rasheed Carpentry and Construction (RCC) have said today that the expatriate driver that was driving their van that was stopped by police in Hulhumale' and found to have bottles and cans of alcohol has been deported.

Police said that the van was searched due to several suspicions.

RCC released a statement today saying that they do not condone anything that goes against the laws of the Maldives. They denied any involvement in the crime.

“After police investigation of the case with alcohol being found in our company van, the driver responsible has been deported and barred entry to the country,” RCC has said.

The chairman of RCC, MP Colonel (Retired) Mohamed Nazim, told Sun previously that the employee did commit a crime and that the company will give the police full cooperation in investigating this case.

Nazim said that RCC has a large number of vehicles and drivers, and that it wasn’t easy to monitor each of the vehicles.

He said the company had taken measures to prevent a repeat of such an incident.
