Development of new school at Feydhoo to commence this year

Education Minister Dr. Aishath Ali speaks at ceremony held to mark the 50th anniversary of Addu City Feydhoo School.

Education Minister Dr. Aishath Ali, on Friday night, remarked that development of a school up to modern standards in Addu City’s Feydhoo district will commence this year – subsequent to being included in this year’s budget.

Speaking at a ceremony held to mark the 50th anniversary of Feydhoo School – Minister Aishath emphasized on the need for a new school at Feydhoo.

“I had the opportunity to visit this island alongside the president last year’s March. When he met the residents during this visit, the most pertinent request put forth by them was the development of a new school on the island,” she recalled.

“The evidence that the voices of the residents were heard by the president is the fact that development of a new school in Feydhoo has been included in 2023, yes, this year’s state budget,” the Minister added.

Minister Aishath said that the new school would be designed to meet the requirements of modern education. In this regard, she noted that the school would include an area to carry out workshops, a cafeteria, a kitchen, laboratories and other modern facilities.

“Our hope is to lay down the cornerstone for this pleasant school at the earliest, and commence physical works very soon,” she said.

During tonight’s ceremony, the registry of the land plot where the new school will be built was handed over to Education Ministry.
