The Chinese embassy in Maldives has donated medical equipment to Tree Top Hospital.
The medical equipment, which includes a PCR machine and test kits, was handed over by the Chinese ambassador Wang Lixin to Tree Top Hospital’s managing director Ahmed Nazeer in a ceremony Monday.
Speaking at the ceremony, Wang said she hopes the PCR machine will be beneficial to the hospital and its patients.
She said the Chinese embassy will work to support the hospital’s future initiatives.
“We hope to hold special sessions for this hospital’s doctors in the future,” she said.
She highlighted on the close ties between Maldives and China.
Nazeer, meanwhile, thanked China for its generous assistance, and said he hoped to see cooperation from the Chinese embassy to the hospital in the future.
Nazeer presented a plaque of appreciation to Wang.
Maldives and China established official diplomatic relations in 1972. The two countries celebrated 50 years to official diplomatic relations last year.
Wang took a tour of the hospital after the handover ceremony.
