Hithadhoo Port celebrates 17th anniversary

Addu City’s Hithadhoo Port celebrated its 17th anniversary at a special ceremony on Friday at Addu High School.

Speaking at the ceremony, Maldives Ports Limited’s (MPL) CEO Shahid Ali thanked all employees of Hithadhoo Port over the past 17 years for executing their duties with limited resources.

He emphasized that economic activities in southern Maldives can only be expanded by providing the services of Hithadhoo Port in a comprehensive manner and further developing the port. On this note, he noted detailed the current administration’s plan to develop Hithadhoo Port.

Shahid said that the project to develop Hithadhoo Port will commence soon. He detailed by the end of the project – which would significantly expand the operational capacity of the port.

During last night’s ceremony, two staff of Hithadhoo Port who retired after serving the company for a long period of time were presented commemorative plaques. Additionally, 26 staff who have been serving the company for 10 years and 13 staff who have been serving the company were presented commemorative plaques.

The ceremony was attended by board members of MPL, members of Addu City Council and senior officials of several government authorities.
