Nazim receives MNP’s ticket for 2023 presidential elections

The presidential ticket of Maldives National Party (MNP), which recently announced itself as an opposition party, has been awarded to the party’s leader, Dhangethi MP Colonel (Retired) Mohamed Nazim, after no other candidates expressed interest in running against him for the ticket.

MNP opened candidacy for its primary for the 2023 presidential elections on December 1.

The deadline expired at 02:00 pm Wednesday.

No other candidates applied to run in the primary.

“As no other candidates applied, the party’s leader Nazim has defended the ticket. We will hold a function to officially present him with the ticket,” said MNP’s spokesperson Shidhatha Shareef.

Shidhadha said the party will begin planning its campaign soon.
