MET predicts stormy weather for next 10 days

As it is the time of two monsoons changing, and as such, Hulhangu and Iruvai Monsoon intersect Maldives Meteorological Service has predicted heavy rain and thunderstorms in different parts of Maldives for the next 10 days.

A meteorologist from Met office, Mohamed Shahudh told Sun that as it’s the time when the monsoon changes, there will be rain over all parts of Maldives.

He also said that in the upcoming 24 hours, everywhere from the middle of Maldives all that way to the North will experience heavy rain and thunderstorms.

Meteorological Service has predicted that skies over most of Maldives will be cloudy with some parts faced with heavy rain.

Strong winds are predicted to come in from west and northwesterly directions at a speed of three to 13 miles per hour, and seas will remain calm on average. But that might change in the upcoming weekend as the seas are predicted to be relatively rough.

As per the statistics of the Met Office, B. Dharavandhoo saw the most rain in the past 24 hours. In addition K. Gaafaru and ADh, Maamigili also experienced heavy rain.

 

Met office recommends everyone travelling by sea to be wary of the changes in weather.
