President advised to form separate company to manage airport

The Cabinet has advised the President to form a government-owned company, under the name of Male’ International Airport Ltd, to operate Ibrahim Nasir International Airport (INIA).

A statement issued by the President’s Office said that this recommendation was made after discussing a paper presented by the Ministry of Finance and Treasury.

The President’s Office said that the Cabinet advised the President to form a company with hundred per cent government shares, which would have full authority to operate and develop the INIA under a management contract with the Maldives Airports Company Limited.
