MVR 50 reprint with MVR symbol issued into circulation

Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) has announced the stock of MVR 50 reprinted with the official symbol for the Maldivian Rufiyaa have been issued into circulation.

The official symbol, which introduces an additional horizontal stroke to the Dhivehi letter ‘Raa’, was launched on July 3.

MMA had received a shipment of MVR 50 notes of the Randhiha Faheh (Golden 50) note series reprinted due to a shortage in stock back in September last year.

They were released into circulation Thursday.

The reprints have the MVR symbol printed on both sides of the banknotes.

It marks the first time for the symbol to be used on banknotes.

The MVR 50 reprints are dated November 8, 2022/ Safar 12, 1444.
