President Solih encourage more youth involvement in culinary industry

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Saturday encouraged more youth to be involved in the culinary industry to maintain the Maldives’ tourism pace in the international market.

He made the remark while addressing the special ceremony held for the first "CGM Chefs Awards" in Maldives.

The awards organized by the Chefs' Guild of Maldives (CGM) recognise outstanding talents in the fast-growing culinary industry of Maldives.

Speaking on promoting Maldivian cuisines on the international stage, the President said there are vital roles chefs and other culinary artists could play by utilising their innovative skills and ideas to promote local flavours.

He described the world of culinary arts as a productive career path for prospective employees, particularly members of the youth.

Furthermore, President Solih emphasized that the culinary industry must always be prepared to cater to the growing demand.

Noting that the awards were a first in the Maldivian culinary sector, the President congratulated CGM members and the award recipients.

The President and the First Lady Fazna Ahmed who accompanied him, presented awards to the recipients at the function.
