President commends Menk’s efforts to raise awareness of true Islamic teachings

Maldivian President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has commended prominent Islamic scholar Ismail ibn Musa Menk (Mufti Menk) for his efforts to raise awareness of true Islamic teachings and values.

Menk, who is in Maldives at the invitation of the Islamic Ministry to carry out a religious public lecture series, called on President Solih at his office Tuesday morning.

During the meeting, President Solih noted Menk’s visit had been highly anticipated by the Maldivian people as they held him in the highest regard.

He praised Menk for his moderate approach to addressing contemporary issues in a relatable manner, and commended his efforts to raise awareness of true Islamic teachings and values.

Menk shared his experience and spoke about the outcome of the lecture series and the meetings held with Maldivian scholars, highlighting the importance of adjusting to the age of social media and learning to respect each other’s differences.

He also thanked the Maldivian government for the hospitality accorded to him during the visit.

Menk arrived in Maldives on Thursday and lectured on key topics in Male’ City, Fuvahmulah City, and Addu City.

He also led the Friday prayer at the Islamic Center in Male’ City, and delivered a sermon which focused on reviving the connection to Allah.

Menk delivered his first lecture at the Alimas Carnival in Male’ City on Friday, on the topic ‘anxiety, depression and stress’.

His second lecture was at the Football Stadium in Fuvahmulah City on Saturday, on the topic ‘Islam, kindness and benevolence’.

His third lecture was at the City Square in Addu City on Sunday, on the topic ‘productive Muslim’.

His final lecture was at the Synthetic Track in Hulhumale’ on Monday, on the topic ‘dealing with family problems’.
