Former President Nasheed's close adviser arrested for sexual misconduct with minor

Ibrahim Rasheed (Hoara Ibbe), who served as Under Secretary at President’s Office in former President Mohamed Nasheed’s government and has been one of the closest associates of Nasheed for years, has been arrested for sexual misconduct with a 17-year-old girl.

He was arrested in G. Maavas, located on the narrow road opposite Olympus.

Both Ibrahim Rasheed and the girl are currently under Police supervision.

Police Media Official Sub-Inspector Hassan Haneef said that Hoara Ibbe and a 17-year-old girl were taken under arrest at around 7:30pm tonight under suspicion of sexual misconduct, during an operation carried out based on information received by the Police.

Arrests for sexual misconduct have increased lately due to special operations by the Police to ensure safety in Male’.

Police Commissioner Abdullah Riyaz said at a recent press conference that suspects necessary for Police investigations will be arrested regardless of their employment posts.
