Pakistan High Commission and PMFA brief media on upcoming telethon to raise funds for flood victims

Pakistan High Commission and the Pakistan Maldives Friendship Association (PMFA) held a meeting with representatives of Maldivian media on Sunday, to brief them about the upcoming telethon to raise funds for the victims of the devastating flooding in Pakistan.

The telethon will be held on Public Service Media (PSM) on October 1.

The meeting was attended by PSM’s MD Ali Khalid, Maldives Media Council’s President, Mohamed Shafau Hassan, representatives from the Maldives Broadcasting Commission, and online media outlets.

At the meeting, Pakistan High Commissioner Vice Admiral (Retired) Ather Mukhtar thanked the Maldivian people for their prayers for Pakistani people affected by the floods – which he said was a direct consequence of climate stress.

Pakistan Deputy High Commissioner Zulqurnain Ahmad thanked the media representatives, especially PSM, for their support.

He also thanked PMFA for organizing the telethon to support the Pakistani people affected by the floods, as well as the Foreign Ministry.

Zulqurnain briefed the media representatives about the flooding situation and relief operations in Pakistan.

He asked all medias and the Maldivian people for their support to make the telethon a success, with the message to save lives and human dignity.

Speaking at the meeting PMFA’s Secretary-General Mariyam Fizana Rashyd highlighted on the purpose of the telethon and solicited assistance from the media to hold it in a befitting manner.
