Maldives National University’s (MNU) physiotherapy students are geared up to hold a special event to mark World Physiotherapy Day, celebrated annually on September 8.

The first day of the two-day event kicking off tomorrow is targeted toward MNU students. Activities on the first day will take place at MNU’s Faculty of Health Science. Meanwhile, the second day is targeted towards the general public – under which activities will be conducted at Social Centre.

Seven stalls including a health screening and a gaming stall are planned for the event. Themes covered through the stalls pertain to balance, anatomy, diet, and awareness. A stall from Physio Solutions will also be seen at the event.

This year’s World Physiotherapy Day is focused on osteoarthritis. Osteoarthritis occurs when the protective cartilage that cushions the ends of the bones wears down over time.

Awareness regarding the disease will be raised at the event.

At present, 53 students from four batches are doing their degrees in physiotherapy at MNU.
