The current spell of bad weather affecting a large part of Maldives will begin to clear on Thursday, states Maldives Meteorological Service.

A large part of Maldives is currently experiencing heavy rain, strong winds and rough seas due to the Hulhangu Monsoon.

An official from Maldives Meteorological Service told Sun that heavy rain was expected to prevail across the country until the end of Wednesday.

“The weather will begin to clear on Thursday,” said the official.

According to the official winds of 15-25 mph are expected in northern and central atolls, and 13-23 mph in southern atolls, with gusts of 45 mph the next 24 hours.

Seas are expected to be rough.

However, islands are not expected to be affected by swell waves.

Maldives Meteorological Service has advised everyone, especially seafarers, to be cautious.
