Council asks President to expedite Isdhoo-Kalaidhoo causeway

L. Dhanbidhoo Council members has asked President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih to expedite the project to develop a causeway between Isdhoo and Kalaidhoo.

The causeway is one of President Solih’s electoral pledges. However, the project has yet to be awarded to a contractor. The delay in the project led to a protest in Kalaidhoo back in January.

In a meeting with President Solih on Thursday, Dhanbidhoo councilors said that said the island had seen significant developmental progress under President Solih’s administration and extended their gratitude to him.

The councilors also shared the challenges and concerns of the residents, one of which was the delay in the project to develop a causeway between Isdhoo and Kalaidhoo.

They asked the President to expedite the project.

Additional concerns shared by councilors included the sewerage network, the shortage of staff and facilities at the healthcare center, the need for a school library, space constraints at the mosque and challenges caused by coastal erosion.

They also discussed the need for proper waste management facilities, policing services, and tourism development in the region,

President Solih provided assurance his administration would seek ways to find amicable solutions to the concerns raised at the meeting.
