Shiaau’s murder: Shaahil’s remand hearing to be held behind closed doors

Renowned local skater Ali Shaahil, 22, Finfenmaage, F. Nilandhoo’s remand hearing in connection to the brutal murder Shiaau Mohamed Saeed, Kuri, Fuvahmulah City on early Sunday morning will be held behind closed doors.

The murder occurred on the 9th floor of H. Sheereen Villa, which is located at Burevi Magu where Cibo Café is situated.

Police said that the crime was reported to authorities at approximately 00:30am on Sunday morning. They also confirmed that a suspect was arrested in connection to the case at the crime scene; a Maldivian man. However, they did not disclose any other details regarding the suspect.

A reliable source identified the suspect to Sun as Shaahil.

Sun has learned that Shaahil’s remand hearing will be held behind closed doors sometime today.

Commenting on the matter, Criminal Court’s Spokesperson Aman Mohamed Najeeb told Sun that the remand hearing is being held closed doors at the request of police.

This hearing will be held online. Shaahil was first taken to Galolhu Police Station after his arrest last night. He was later transported to Dhoonidhoo.

The victim, Shiaau’s  body was transported to Gololhu Mortuary in an ambulance belonging to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) last night from the crime scene. Sun journalists who were at the scene reported that her body was loaded onto the ambulance in two separate body bags.

Sun has learned Shiaau sustained deep wounds in the attack – with parts of her body being mutilated. In this regard, her limbs were reported to have been completely dismembered. She also sustained deep wounds to her neck.
