Powerhouse for Kudagiri - the designated picnic island for residents of Male’ area was completed, and electricity had been officially given to the island.
A special ceremony was held to commemorate the occasion and was officiated by Vice President Faisal Naseem.
The powerhouse built by Fenaka Corporation has an engine with a capacity of 350 kilowatts.
Additionally, the company has facilitated the storage of 50,000 litres of fuel on the island.
Speaking about this with Sun, the Managing Director of Fenaka Ahmed Saeed Mohamed said that right now they were doing the final preparations ahead of the official opening of the island.
Fenaka has undertaken the task of proving the island with electricity and establishing water sports.
Saeed added that they were aiming to complete work pertaining to water sports within the next two to three weeks.
“Water sports will be established with the latest facilities. The Kudagiri project will bring much satisfaction to the residents of the greater Male’ area.”
Moreover, Saeed stated that President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has given this project utmost priority. The project is taken on by multiple state-owned companies.
While Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) reclaimed the land needed, State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) recently finished laying the distribution network and installing streetlights on the island.
