Police bust major drug network, seize 10kg drugs

Police Intelligence, in cooperation with Maldives Customs, have busted a major drug network and seized 10kg of drugs.

Police Media Official Sub-Inspector of Police Hassan Haneef said that the drugs were found onboard a vessel which travels between Male’ and India.

He said that the operation is ongoing and that efforts are currently under way to check a house in Male’.

Haneef said that four Maldivians and seven foreign nationals have been arrested so far, and that large amounts of Maldivian Rufiya and foreign currency have been seized.

Police said that further details of this operation will be revealed to media later.
