Maldives Third Way Democrats (MTD) have submitted over 3,000 membership forms to the Elections Commission (EC).

Speaking to Sun, the Vice President of EC Ismail Habeeb confirmed this and added that work was ongoing to authenticate all the forms submitted to the commission.

“That is true. Now [they] have submitted over 3,000 forms. EC will then check for the legitimacy of the forms. It is not completed and work is ongoing.”

Habeeb also added that as soon as all the forms are verified, the commission will be announcing it.

MTD was created in 2018, and led by former Vice President Ahmed Adeeb.

The party along with other smaller political parties in Maldives with under 3,000 members were recently sent dissolution notices.

Of those parties, Maldives Reform Movement (MRM) has reached 3,000 members, and EC has revealed its dissolution notice issued to the party.
