Hajj Corporation requests investigation of staff over theft of company property

Maldives Hajj Corporation has requested Maldives Police Service to investigate the theft of a company’s laptop by a staff.

The company had sent a letter to Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameed requesting an investigation.

An official from Hajj Corporation who wished not to be named told Sun that Mohamed Nazim, Ma. Meynaaz, who is working as an information engineer at the company had taken possession of a MacBook Pro belonging to the company, unauthorized. The official added that Nazim had refused to return the laptop to the company, upon being instructed to do so.

Speaking further, the official said that as Hajj Corporation is a fully state-owned company, unauthorized possession of the company’s property can be considered theft of government property.

Underscoring that the company’s handling of major finances – the official stressed that it is mandated upon the company to secure personal details of customers and the company’s financial transactions.

The official said that the stolen laptop will have personal details of Hajj Corporation’s customers – which the staff in question will have access to, to be used for his own benefit.

Therewith, the official said that Hajj Corporation had requested the Police to carry out a serious investigation and recover the laptop.
