Maldives Hajj Corporation has purchased a 5,700 square foot land plot from Hulhumale’ for MVR 21 million.
Civil Court concluded the case pertaining to the transaction on Thursday which was presided by Judge Mariyam Waheeda.
Hajj Corporation bought the land plot in Hulhumalé Phase I from the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) for MVR 21,510,876.80, and the land title has since been transferred to the Corporation.
Established in 2013 via a presidential decree, Hajj Corporation is a fully government owned company. Its main mandate is to provide best arrangements for Hajj and Umrah pilgrimage for the citizens of the Maldives, a hundred percent Muslim country, and to ensure that the payments made in this regard are received and handled with honesty.
Hajj Corporation has purchased a land plot from Hulhumale’ amidst efforts by the company to venture into tourism. In this regard, the company has made an announcement seeking a party to develop a city hotel in K. Maafushi, viting local and international contractors to submit proposals for the project, which is being developed under its newly formed subsidiary, Maafushi Islamic Tourism Pvt Ltd (MIT).
It is highly possible that the land plot was purchased from Hulhumale’ to develop an office building.
