The number of tourist arrivals to Maldives has surpassed 700,000, so far this year.

According to the ministry’s records, the highest number of arrivals were noted from India, with 99,614 visitors. This makes up 14.1 percent of the total arrivals.

Followed by India is the UK, with 88,043 arrivals, which is 12.5 percent of visitors.

Although Russia was leading in the list of arrivals at the beginning of this year, the country has dropped to third place. Only 67,088 tourists arrived from Russia so far, which made up 9.5 percent.

On average about 4,648 tourists come to Maldives daily and stay in the country for an average of 8.7 days.

This year the month of May broke records with 125,522 arrivals – marking the highest number of arrivals recorded ever in the month of May.

Tourist arrivals to Maldives continue to increase as Maldives recovers from the COVID-19 situation, especially as restrictions eased and borders reopened all over the world.
