The Prosecutor General's Office has decided to drop charges against those arrested in connection to the drugs found hidden under the false flooring of a house in Male’ City.

In March 2022, following a two-day operation by Drug Enforcement and Counter-Narcotics Intelligence 42 kilos of heroin were found hidden under a false flooring in a house in Maafannu.

Two residences and a private office were searched by the Police in the operation.

The two suspects in connection to the case are:

  • Ahmed Hussain, 39, Dhafthar no. 3840
  • Abdulla Nasheed, 46, Nooruh, K. Male’

Media Official for the PG office and Public Prosecutor Ahmed Shafeeu stated that despite the opportunity and the time to obtain a search warrant for M.Lovenest, the house was searched without one.

He further noted that though it was clear who owned the property since the permission to search the residence was obtained from another party, the scene from which the drugs were obtained was searched illegally.

Moreover, PG Office noted that there were many questionable things with regard to what happened at the crime scene.

The office also noted that as per documents, many pieces of evidence that were at the scene which could have been used as evidence were not taken and analyzed.

Further to this, the PG office said that pieces of evidence that were believed to have been obtained were not gathered, hence there was not enough evidence linking the suspects to the crime.
