Applications open for Bar Council elections

Applications have been opened for the elections of Maldives’ Bar Council.

The term of the first executive committee of the Bar Council, constituted under the Legal Profession Act enacted in 2019, is set to expire on July 13.

Bar Council has announced the vote to elect a new executive committee will be held on June 11.

Interested candidates have been asked to submit their application forms by 03:00 pm on May 22.

Candidates who apply for president or vice president of the Bar Council must have minimum 10 years of experience as a lawyer, while lawyers who apply for other positions within the executive committee are required to have minimum five years of experience in the legal field.
