MD Shah: Many successes achieved in MWSC’s 27 years of service

Male’ Water and Sewerage Company Private Limited’s (MWSC) Managing Director Hassan Shah has stated that the company has achieved many successes in its 27 years of history.

Speaking at a special staff assembly held to mark the 27^th anniversary of MWSC – Shah said that they are the company that most extensively provides water and sewerage services in the Maldives. He added that this year will be marked as the year in which the company undertakes the highest number of projects in its entirety.

MWSC came to inception on April 1, 1995. The main purpose of establishing the company was to constructively address the water and sewerage issue faced in Male’ City back then as well as to provide the people of Male’ with uninterrupted safe water and wastewater services that are sustainable and affordable.

In 27-years of its service, MWSC has achieved many successes in different areas such as capacity of its water and sewerage services; employee numbers; human resource development; development of modern technological instruments and infrastructure development.

At present, MWSC provides its services at residential islands outside of Male’ area. In addition to this, the company also provides electricity service, sustainable waste management service and supply of ice to fishermen at R. Dhuvaafaru.

The company has also established a factory at Hulhumale’ where they produce mineralized pure drinking water and manufacture PET preform. They have also established a pipe factory at K. Gulhufalhu – where different types of pipes are manufactured.
