Government Spokesperson Abbas Adil Riza has left Jumhooree Party (JP).
Abbas, who was also a member of JP Council, said in an interview with Sun Online that his reason for leaving the party is that he did not agree with the recent statements made by JP Deputy Leader Abdullah Jabir.
“Those statements are not ideas that I accept. I left the party because I cannot accept such claims. I don’t believe that I should stay with a person who does not pay taxes, and defames the Police. That’s my reason for sending the letter to quit the party,” he said.
Abbas said that he was not at all satisfied with the direction the party was headed.
When asked which party he would join next, Abbas said that he will remain with the “national movement”.
Despite JP being part of the government coalition, Jabir said at the Parliament today that the current government is a ‘coup’ government.
Moreover, Members of Parliament of JP, namely Leader Gasim Ibrahim, Deputy Leader Abdullah Jabir, Alhan Fahmy and Hassan Adil voted in favour of establishing secret ballots for no-confidence motions at the Parliament today, while Abdullah Abdul Raheem abstained.
