Nasheed requests to intervene in Hulhumale' Court legitimacy case

Former President Mohamed Nasheed has requested Supreme Court to allow him to intervene in the case on the legitimacy of the Hulhumale' Court.

Member of Nasheed's legal team Hassan Latheef said that the form requesting to be allowed to intervene in the case was filed to Supreme Court this morning.

He said that the Supreme Court has not yet responded to this request.

Latheef said that a case pertaining to Nasheed was in progress at Hulhumale' Court when Supreme Court decided to look into the case on the legitimacy of the Hulhumale' Court; thus, Nasheed believes that he should be allowed to intervene in this case.

The Supreme Court has scheduled the first hearing on the Hulhumale' Court legitimacy case for 2:00pm today.

The Judges presiding over this case are the seven Supreme Court Judges, namely Chief Justice Ahmed Faiz Hussain, Judge Dr Ahmed Abdullah Didi, Ahmed Mu'uthasim Adnan, Ali Hameed Mohamed, Abdullah Saeed, Abdullah Areef and Adam Mohamed Abdullah.

Adam Mohamed Abdullah is the current President of JSC, and also the Judge appointed to JSC by the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court website states that the plaintiff of the Hulhumale' Court legitimacy case is the Judicial Service Commission (JSC), while the defendant is lawyer Ismail Visham who earlier filed the case the Civil Court.
