Dhiraagu celebrated the International Women’s Day 2022 with a renewed focus on gender equality and women empowerment, with the rollout of a new gender action plan.
The new gender action plan for the company was announced by Dhiraagu’s CEO and Managing Director Ismail Rasheed at a staff gathering to celebrate International Women’s Day at the Dhiraagu head office in Male’ City on Tuesday.
Dhiraagu states that the company’s renewed efforts on gender action covers three key areas.

Speaking at the gathering, Ismail Rasheed said Dhiraagu was committed to strengthen efforts on gender action towards a sustainable tomorrow.
He also highlighted on the key initiatives Dhiraagu would focus on regarding flexible working, returnship guidelines, structured mentorship and coaching, and increasing female representation in technical roles, in apprenticeship programs and in managerial roles.
As part of International Women’s Day celebrations, Dhiraagu invited working mothers to bring their daughters and sons to work to celebrate the day together with their children. They were encouraged to show the children the work they do, take them on a tour, meet colleagues, and play fun games.
Dhiraagu states it celebrates a culture of no gender discrimination and equal opportunities.
Dhiraagu established a Women Empowerment Committee to further advance gender equality and create growth and development opportunities in 2019, and a Mother’s Room with facilities to ease the transition for working mothers returning back to work, in 2020.
The company said it also continues to support initiatives to inspire and empower women as part of its community focused Corporate Social Responsibility programs, and has several programs planned for the year ahead.
