COVID-19: 463 new cases; 14,912 active cases

Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Tuesday, announced 463 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 170,655.    

According to HPA, the 463 new cases include; 29 cases from the greater Male’ region, 382 cases from residential islands outside Male’, and 21 cases from operational resorts. 

Meanwhile, 569 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 155,433.    

With the new developments, Maldives now has 14,912 active cases.      

There are 13 patients in hospitals.      

2,804 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours, including 504 samples from the greater Male' region.  

With the 463 new infections on Tuesday, 4,130 people have tested positive over the last one-week period.  

March 1: 463 cases 

February 28: 560 cases 

February 27: 484 cases 

February 26: 517 cases 

February 25: 507 cases 

February 24:  628 cases 

February 23:  971 cases 

Maldives has recorded 297 COVID-19 deaths. 

Maldives began its vaccination campaign in February last year. The country expanded the campaign to begin vaccinating children between 12 years and 17 years of age six months later, in August, and began administering the booster dose the same month. 

As of Monday, 398,214 people have received their first dose and 371,091 people have been fully vaccinated, and 132,723 have received their booster dose.
