Voting for tied candidates for the post of MDP PG Deputy Leader on February 28

Tiebreaker voting round for the candidates that tied for the post of Maldivian Democratic Party’s (MDP) Parliamentary Group’s Deputy Leader, South Henveiru MP Hussain Shaheem (Andhun Hussain) and Hulhudhoo MP Ilyas Labeeb is set to take place on February 28.

Initial voting to elect two Deputy Leaders of the Parliamentary Group was held on Friday, during which the most votes were secured by Alifushi MP Mohamed Rasheed Hussain, successfully securing one chair.

Tie breaker voting for the two candidates who were tied by 34 votes, Andhu and Ilyas is set to take place between 2pm and 4pm on February 28.

In the voting held on to elect a Parliamentary Group Leader on Friday, North Hithadhoo MP Mohamed Aslam secured the post with 40 votes. Current Parliamentary Group Leader, Central Henveiru MP Ali Azim who contested for the post alongside him secured 25 votes.
