Hulhumale' Court case first hearing scheduled for Sunday

The Supreme Court has scheduled the first hearing of the case on the legitimacy of Hulhumale' Court for Sunday.

The website of the Supreme Court says that the hearing for this case, filed by the Judicial Service Commission (JSC), will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday.

The case will be presided over by the seven Judges of Supreme Court, namely Chief Justice Ahmed Faiz Hussain, Judge Dr Ahmed Abdullah Didi, Ahmed Mu'uthasim Adnan, Ali Hameed Mohamed, Abdullah Saeed, Abdullah Areef and Adam Mohamed Abdullah.

Adam Mohamed Abdullah is the current President of JSC, and also the Judge appointed to JSC by the Supreme Court.

Lawyer Ismail Visham has also been summoned to this hearing.

Visham was the first person to file the case on the legitimacy of Hulhumale' Court to Civil Court, following which a letter was sent by JSC to Supreme Court indicating that the case is not within the jurisdiction of Civil Court.

Chief Justice Faiz has said that the Supreme Court had not looked into the case until now, because the JSC never formally filed the case to the Supreme Court until recently.
