Indian government has decided to once again grant Dependant Visa for parents of Maldivian students studying in India. This service was stopped a while back, when the Indian Authorities said that Dependant Visas for Maldivians were being issued previousl due to an error.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that this decision was made under a moratorium.
Irshad Abdul Sattar, Media Official of Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the Indian government announced this decision about two hours ago. He said that visas will be granted to those who apply now, and that those people whose visas were cancelled previously, may also reapply.
Indian government said when they stopped issuing dependent visa earlier this month that this was not a new regulation, but that issuance of dependant visa previously for parents of students above 16 years of age, was an error.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that this decision to issue dependant visa for Maldivian students in India is a result of the hard work of The Maldivian High Commissioner in India and other Maldivians.
