Sample collection center to open in Hulhumale’ Phase II

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has announced a sample collection center will be opened near the Hiyaa flats in Hulhumale’ Phase II on Tuesday. 

HPA said the new sample collection center will be located outside the H-8 Tower, and will be open from 03:30 pm – 06:30 pm every day, starting Tuesday. 

It’s the first sample collection center to be opened in Hulhumale’ Phase II, and increases the number of sample collection centers in the greater Male’ region to five. 

SAMPLE COLLECTION CENTERS IN GREATER MALE’ REGION: 

Hulhumale’ Phase II (near H-8):  

03:30 pm – 06:30 pm every day 

Henveiru Football Ground:  

03:30 pm – 06:30 pm every day 

Social Center:  

Saturday-Thursday: 09:00 am – 12:00 pm and 03:00 pm – 06:00 pm 

Friday: 03:00 pm – 06:00 pm 

Vilimale’ Flu Clinic: 

04:00 pm – 06:30 pm every day 

Ruhgandu 1, Hulhumale’ Phase I: 

Saturday-Thursday: 09:00 am – 12:00 pm and 03:00 pm – 06:00 pm 

Friday: 03:00 pm – 06:00 pm 

Maldives is battling a nation-wide surge in COVID-19 cases, fueled by the new Omicron variant. The sample positivity rate in the capital, which stood at three percent at the end of last year, has now risen to 33 percent.

Health experts expect the cases to peak by the end of January or beginning of February. 

Maldives has 120,168 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 2,707 new cases on Monday. 104, 164 patients have recovered, while 270 have died from complications. 

 

The country currently has 15,721 active cases.
