The opposition coalition, composed of PPM and PNC, has lodged three complaints linked to the Komandoo by-election with the Elections Commission’s Complaints Committee.
Complaints Committee’s head Ibrahim Hafiz told Sun on Sunday afternoon that two of the complaints were regarding campaign irregularities.
Hafiz said the committee has sent a letter confirming the two complaints will be looked into.
The third complaint was regarding electoral officials.
Hafiz said the committee has yet to make a decision regarding the complaint.
He added that the Elections Commission had yet to select electoral officials.
All three complaints were lodged last Saturday.
Hafiz said that none of the complaints submitted to the committee so far warranted a postponement of the election.
The law dictates that decisions of the Complaints Committee can be appealed with the High Court.
The Komandoo by-elections is scheduled to be held on February 5. Ruling MDP, opposition PPM and MNP are contesting the elections.
