Tree Top completes successful craniotomy with intercranial tumour resection

Tree Top Hospital has successfully completed a craniotomy and resection of an intracranial tumour. 

Craniotomy is a surgical procedure that removes part of the skull bone to expose the brain. Tree Top's Neurology team successfully performed this procedure followed by a tumour resection on a 66-year old patient with a brain tumour. 

The procedures were led by Neurosurgeon Dr Juan Lourido, Anesthesiologist Dr Aminath Fiuna, Dr Viswajith Udhey Kumar and Medical Officer Dr Gasim Nimal, and assisted by the surgical nurses and technical staff of Tree Top.

Lead Surgeon completed his MD at the University of Navarra School of Medicine, Spain and the doctorate program in Neuroscience at the University of La Laguna, Spain. He has filled the role of Head of Neurosurgery at Hospitales San Roque, Spain and Director at ICN-Instituto Canario de Neurocirugia, Canary Islands and is extensively experienced and skilled in diagnosing a wide range of neurological conditions and performing surgery with minimally invasive techniques.

Additionally, he has multiple several visiting fellowships; Microsurgery in Zurich, Neuro-Intensive care in Lund University, Neuro-Oncology at Harvard University and Melbourne, and Vascular in Dallas. 

"I am very happy not note that the surgical procedure was very successful", said Dr Lourido.
