Damage to cable triggers power outage at Hiyaa Flats

Hiyaa Flats developed at Hulhumale’ Phase II, are currently facing a power outage.

State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) said that the power outage was triggered by damage to a cable laid down in the area. They further detailed that it is most likely that the cable was damaged amidst construction work.

“We are working on solving the issue and restoring power at the earliest,” they had said.

STELCO apologized for all inconveniences occupants at Hiyaa Flats may face due to the power outage. They also added that it would take about three hours, to solve the issue and restore power to the units.

Elevators installed at Hiyaa Flats getting stuck has been a common occurrence. This has caused an increased load for working elevators, sometimes people having to queue to use it.

Subsequently, Housing Development Corporation (HDC) is currently working on expanding the lobby area near the elevators – by tearing down some walls.
