Going to a driving school has been made mandatory prior to seeking driver’s license.

Prior to this, going to a driving school was not mandatory in attaining a driver’s license. As per previous regulations, a driver’s license will be issued upon passing an exam given by the Transport Ministry.

In the ‘Regulation of the operation of Driving Schools’ publicized by the Transport Ministry today, an allotted amount of time needs be spent on driving a vehicle at a driving school permitted by the Ministry, to be able to qualify for a driver’s license.

In this regard, a driving school must confirm that the individual applying for the driver’s license have completed the allotted hours of driving time at the school. When submitting the application, a record of this should be submitted as proof.

As per the regulation formulated by the Transport Ministry, the allotted hours of driving time are different for different vehicles.

Those seeking motorcycle licenses must complete 40 hours of driving time at a driving school. Those seeking licenses for four-wheelers such as cars and pickups must complete 30 hours of driving time at a driving school. Those seeking licenses for other vehicles must complete 25 hours of driving time at a driving school.
