Environmental Protection Agency fined Vashugiri Pvt Ltd by MVR 593,750.
According to the statement released by EPA, the company was fined for violating the regulation in compiling the Environmental Impact Assessment Report (EIAR) during the development of Cocogiri Island Resort on V.Vashugiri.
Hence under the Environmental Liability Regulation, the company was fined in order to obtain compensation for damages caused to the environment.
Notably, EPA did not provide any specifications regarding the violations in the press release.
Vashugiri Pvt Ltd was asked to pay the fines within a month.
EPA imposed a similar fine only five days go to Paradise Resort Development & Management Pvt Ltd, the company that developed a resort in Adh. Maafushivaru by MVR 402,500.
