Maldives' COVID-19 death toll rises to 262

Maldives has recorded an additional COVID-19 fatality – increasing the death toll to 262.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) said that a COVID-19 patient brought to Th. Vilifushi Health Centre early this morning at 05:30am, was declared dead on arrival.

They identified the latest COVID-19 victim as an 86-year-old Maldivian woman. Her death increases the number of COVID-19 fatalities in the Maldives to 262.

The last COVID-19 death recorded in the Maldives prior to this was on December 23; a 66-year Maldivian man being treated at GDh. Thinathoo Covid Management Facility.

Within the last 24 hours, HPA announced 168 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 95,032.      

Meanwhile, 121 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 92,679.    

With the new developments, Maldives now has 2,079 active cases.      

There are 8 patients in hospitals.
