COVID-19: 168 new cases; 2,019 active cases

Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Saturday, announced 168 additional cases of COVID-19, increasing confirmed cases in Maldives to 94,732.      

According to HPA, the 168 new cases include; 44 cases from the greater Male’ region, 101 cases from residential islands outside Male’, 19 cases from operational resorts, and 4 cases from liveaboards. 

Meanwhile, 88 additional COVID-19 patients were confirmed to have made full recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing total recoveries to 92,439.    

With the new developments, Maldives now has 2,019 active cases.      

There are 10 patients in hospitals.      

4,419 samples have been tested for COVID-19 over the last 24-hours, including 1,416 samples from the greater Male' region. The positivity rate in the greater Male’ area is at 3 percent. 

With the 168 new infections on Saturday, 868 people have tested positive over the last one-week period.  

December 25: 168 cases 

December 24: 120 cases 

December 23: 145 cases 

December 22: 121 cases 

December 21: 121 cases 

December 20: 100 cases 

December 19: 93 cases 

Maldives has recorded 261 COVID-19 deaths.
